Chairperson; Eig-Watson School of Aviation at Miami Dade College
In her role as the Chairperson at the Eig-Watson School of Aviation at Miami Dade College, Carla Pinto provides academic and operational leadership, develops key alliances with aviation corporations, flight schools, other institutions of higher learning and promotes the expansion of workforce programs offered by the College to meet the needs of the aviation industry. Prior to MDC, she was Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Director for the Fort Lauderdale and Miami campuses, where her diverse background allowed her to positively impact her interactions with international students and multinational leaders, creating a truly global community in the South Florida campuses. During her ten-year career at Embry-Riddle, she formed strong partnerships within the aviation community and focused greatly on student success. She also created “VAMOS “- An Approach to Globalization and Diversity Community of Interest, which focused on establishing one global community at the University. Ms. Pinto’s expertise in Aviation includes management of aircraft sales and marketing at Premier Aircraft Sales, administration of South Sky Aviation Flight School and VASP Brazilian Airlines’ operations in North America. She earned a Master of Aeronautical Science and a Master of Business Administration in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Appreciating the value of her background and education, she is highly involved in youth development organizations that assist South Florida students to become leaders in their community and that provide scholarships for college. She serves as the Third Vice President on the Board of Directors of the Greater Miami Aviation Association, the Miami Beacon Council’s Aviation Education Committee and the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Subcommittee and has been an integral member of Operation SAFEE since its inception. She is a long-standing member of Women in Aviation International as well. Her ultimate goals are to obtain a PHD in Global Leadership and to build Aviation oriented schools for underprivileged children in North and South America. In her free time, Carla loves to go the beach with her family, travel and enjoy movies of all genres.
