The GMAA provides a forum for the sharing of opinions and concerns of the industry, government, civic leaders and others with an interest in the past, current and future activities of aviation.

Dear Members and Friends of the GMAA,

Dear Members and Friends of the GMAA,

On behalf of our Gala Committee, Board of Directors, and the scholarship recipients, I would like to thank you for another successful Gala/Golf Scholarship drive event. The efforts and generous contributions of our sponsors and donators have provided the success for 2009 that will assist in funding part of the education necessary for the future of our industry.

This year has especially been a lean and economically demanding year for everyone, not only in South Florida, and the United States, but the world. That is why this year was exceptionally gratifying to continue to have so many supporters.

These supporters came from many different businesses. MRO’s, like TIMCO and our Platinum sponsor, AAR. Hays and Mutual of Omaha insurance companies, pilot training and aircraft support services like Aero Maintenance Group, Aeroservice, Brickell Asset Management, PASCO, Duty Free Shops, and the Caribbean Trade Center. Our sister non-profit organizations like ALTA and Miami Maintenance Management Council all lent a hand in making this year’s fund drive a grand success.

Doral Resort, Miami Springs Golf and Country Club, and several other companies came through with huge discounts and raffle donations.

The third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world from South America, Embraer came through for golf donations two years in a row.  Over the many years airlines like American, Amerijet and FWIA consistently step up to the plate. Several of our newer airline members, also perennial sponsors from Latin and South America, have our extensive gratitude. All the smaller business entities that struggle as much as any major company, we thank you profoundly for your sacrifice and contributions.

Last but not least, we thank our award recipients and their companies; Jose Abreu, MIA and MDAD, Roberto Kriete of TACA, and Roland Moore, PA and aviation industry attorney.  Without people like these outstanding individuals, our industry would not continue to survive. Please continue in your pursuit of accomplishment and gains for the industry.

Regardless of the economic situation, the GMAA continues to support higher education for aviation. This year’s successful Gala will give us the opportunity to grow our investment account back to some semblance of the past so to benefit future recipients. This would never have been possible without our members and supporters in 2009.

Again, our sincerest thanks to all.
